Episode 12: Sharla Ember

Religion. Hot top. I’m not a fan of religion, I think it’s been used as a form of law and order and it’s been twisted and turned and flipped upside down. Now spirituality is a different thing, it’s personal, it’s just for you and no one else. There is no show, no having to go to church every Sunday so you don’t get talked about or called a sinner and there is no fear, it’s all about love and a personal spiritual relationship with whatever God you choose to serve.

In this week’s episode I chat with Sharla Ember. She’s a Musical Mystic, Sound Channeler, Vibrational Healer and a singer/songwriter. We talk about her growing up in the church, her leaving the church, her healing journey after leaving the church and the beautiful work she does now. She works with clients to heal through vibrations, frequencies and music. Check out her YouTube, she has an insane voice!!!!!!

Sharla and I grew up in the church together, a fundamental Christian church. My family went to her dad’s church and eventually my dad went on to have his own church, so Sharla and I know the joys of being a pastor’s kid, living in a glass house and not having the opportunity to choose our own belief system and faith. Now I’m not against having faith, this is a wonderful thing, but what I do not agree with is the church itself and it’s driving force, fear. Do this and then God will love you, don’t do that or you will go to hell, show love to everyone but only to those that are like us. Don’t hang out with the heathens, they will corrupt you. I mean seriously!!!!!

What I know of God is this: God works through you, he/she is in you, he/she is you, he/she is everywhere. The God/universe whatever you want to call it that I know works out of love, understanding and encourages you to trust your gut, to go inward and listen to yourself and wants you to experience absolute joy. No rules.

Now growing up in a fundamentalist Christian Church Sharla and I saw a lot of crazy shit, we both understand the toll it takes on you, not knowing what to believe or who to believe and also the process of learning to untuck yourself, to learn trust yourself. Luckily for the two of us we allowed ourselves to question, search and find our way back to what it’s really all about, love.. In this episode you’ll hear a fair bit about our upbringing and Sharla’s spiritual journey and the healing she does now.
